Nestled within the rugged desert landscape near Canyon Point lies Amangiri, an ultra-luxurious resort offering a peaceful desert hideaway. Amangiri, meaning “peaceful mountain” in Sanskrit, lives up to its name with its tranquil setting providing a perfect escape from everyday life. This resort blends into its natural surroundings, with luxury suites built around sandstone cliffs overlooking beautiful desert vistas. Guests come to Amangiri for its privacy, impeccable service, stunning views and abundance of desert adventures right on the doorstep. In this article we talk about Amangiri (Canyon Point, Utah) Hotel in US- Activity & Review.

Arrival and Accommodations

Upon arriving at Amangiri after a scenic two-hour drive from Las Vegas, you’re greeted by friendly staff at the entrance pavilion who whisk away your bags while you take in the resort’s dramatic desert views. The minimalist sandstone suites blend perfectly with the surrounding canyon walls as if they sprouted directly from the desert floor.

The suites exude understated luxury with concrete walls, wooden ceilings, and desert hues accentuating the suites’ spacious layouts. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide panoramic views of the surrounding landscape from the king-sized bedroom, lounge area and even the stand-alone bathtub. The suites connect to private courtyards with plunge pools, fire pits and dining spaces. For the ultimate indulgence, the Mesa suite includes a glass-enclosed rooftop pool suspended above the valley below.

Dining

The resort’s main restaurant, Amaniga, centers around a courtyard with a fireplace underneath a carved sandstone cliff. Chef Anthony Wright serves up creative Southwestern cuisine like Navajo tacos with pine nuts and yellowfoot chanterelles for lunch. Dinner might feature dishes such as Sonoran antelope with huitlacoche and padron peppers. The restaurant sources ingredients from local purveyors and the resort’s own garden whenever possible.

For a more intimate dining experience, guests can arrange private dinners in their suites or on their terraces under the stars. There’s also an outdoor grilling area for guests to cook their own meals. The Amaniga Lounge serves small plates and cocktails along with stunning canyon views from its outdoor terrace. Guests can also arrange scenic picnic lunches to take along on excursions into the surrounding canyons and plateaus.

Resort Activities and Amenities

While simply gazing at Amangiri’s captivating desert scenery could occupy days, the resort offers plenty of activities and amenities to complement its peaceful setting. The glass-enclosed spa built around a natural rock wall offers rejuvenating Navajo-inspired treatments incorporating local herbs and oils. There’s a spa lounge and both indoor and outdoor treatment spaces. The spa’s amenities include a steam room, sauna and cold plunge pool. Yoga sessions take place in an outdoor pavilion with views looking out over the canyons.

For the more active guest, there’s a state-of-the-art fitness center with personal trainers available. Outside, a scenic running trail snakes along the cliff tops. The resort’s Pilates studio offers both mat and reformer classes. Guests can also book private training sessions.

The resort’s 25-meter outdoor pool clings to the base of a sandstone cliff wall with panoramic canyon views. Just next to the main pool lies the smaller sky pool reserved for suite guests. For families, there’s a special children’s pool. Pool attendants are on hand to provide chilled water, fruit kebabs and other refreshments.

In keeping with its secluded desert hideaway vibe, Amangiri does not allow televisions or radios in its suites. However, complimentary Wi-Fi means guests don’t have to completely unplug if they don’t want to. There are plenty of cozy spots around the resort to curl up with a book from the library including desert-themed novels and guidebooks on the region’s ecology and history. The Amangiri Suite also comes with a private library.

Excursions and Adventures

While lounging at the resort makes for a perfect vacation for some, the surrounding desert landscapes beg to be explored. Amangiri offers a range of private guided day trips showcasing some of the most spectacular scenery in the Southwest. Guests can discover slot canyons, ancient petroglyphs, extinct volcanoes and more without venturing far from the resort.

For a one-of-a-kind experience, rafting trips take guests down the Colorado River through legendary Grand Canyon rapids. Helicopter tours give a bird’s eye perspective of the region’s natural wonders. Guides lead overnight camping trips under the stars in remote corners of the desert. Mountain biking, rock climbing and horseback riding through sandstone canyons all make for unforgettable excursions. At the end of an exhilarating day of exploration, guests return to Amangiri for a relaxing evening by the fire pits or a rejuvenating spa treatment.

Amangiri Review

From its architecture seamlessly blended into the natural landscape to the attentive yet unobtrusive service, Amangiri offers an unparalleled desert sanctuary. The resort’s suites bring the outdoors in with their enormous windows, spacious layouts and direct access to private outdoor spaces. The suites expertly balance luxury with simplicity using natural materials like concrete, wood and stone complemented by handcrafted furnishings and textiles.

The food encompasses both creativity and local flavors with much of the produce sourced right from the resort’s own garden. The spa’s Navajo-inspired treatments incorporate time-honored healing traditions. With adventures ranging from spectacular hikes to thrilling rafting trips departing right from the resort, guests can explore the captivating desert landscape without sacrificing luxury. Of course, doing absolutely nothing but gazing out at the serene canyon views also makes the perfect getaway. From peaceful relaxation to desert adventures, Amangiri provides the ultimate sanctuary to escape everyday life. Tucked away in the striking volcanic landscape of Iceland lies an oasis of relaxation and rejuvenation – the Retreat at Blue Lagoon. As the name suggests, this luxury hotel is situated right next to the world-famous Blue Lagoon geothermal spa, allowing guests to experience the healing powers of the milky blue waters right at their doorstep. My recent wellness retreat here proved to be transformative, both physically and mentally. In this article I share my Retreat at Blue Lagoon Hotel In Iceland- Activity & Review.

Checking Into An Architectural Marvel

Upon arriving into Keflavik International Airport, I was whisked away on a dedicated Retreat transfer to the hotel. Driving through the moss-covered lava fields under brooding skies, it felt like I was on another planet! The alien landscape simply heightened the anticipation of what was to come. Suddenly the cutting-edge structure came into view, seamlessly blending into the natural surroundings with its volcanic rock-inspired design.

I was checking into the Retreat Spa Suite, an ultra luxurious 55 sq m abode featuring a king-size bed, lounge area and my own private 35 sq m geothermal pool on the deck! Floor-to-ceiling windows offered unobstructed views of the surrounding landscape from every corner. The suite exuded cosy hygge charm while encapsulating that signature Icelandic minimalistic aesthetic.

After unwinding over a welcome drink, it was time to get the real ‘treat-ment’ started!

Indulging In Cutting-Edge Spa Treatments

The spa menu at Retreat Spa by Blue Lagoon is extensive but I had already booked their signature rituals designed to heal body, mind and skin. My Lava Shell Massage began with my therapist using tiger-striped clam shells from the Philippines to gently loosen up knots. As the shells glided smoothly over my back, I felt all the pent-up tension dissipate. The shells were then worked over my palms and soles in firm strokes – a truly unique massage experience!

Next was The Ritual which started with a stimulating full body salt exfoliation using crystals hand-harvested from the Blue Lagoon. My skin felt baby soft after rinsing off in a private shower. This was followed by the Blue Lagoon Ritual Wrap where the geothermal silica mud mask worked its magic, infusing moisture and minerals. As I lay cocooned in the heated blanket, it felt incredibly therapeutic.

The finale was the Blue Lagoon Ritual facial designed for anti-ageing and skin renewal. The massage focused on pressure points while the Blue Lagoon skincare range left my skin plump and glowing. I emerged feeling completely relaxed and my skin looking visibly radiant. Truly one of the best spa treatments I’ve ever experienced!

Bathing In The Restorative Blue Lagoon

Of course, no visit to the Retreat is complete without multiple sessions soaking in the Blue Lagoon itself. The entire hotel is designed to celebrate their greatest asset. One entire facade allows guests to slip from their rooms directly into the lagoon’s healing waters. I began each morning with a swim, gliding from one end to the other while breathing in the clean air. The sunlight dancing on the steamy blue expanse was a sight to behold.

In the evenings, I repeated my ritual – hitting the waters as the sun dipped below the horizon. The steam rising over the inky water made it seem almost mystical! The silica mud mask provided at various stations around the lagoon is a must-try. I slathered it on for a mini facial as I gazed at the dreamy twilight skies.

Pro Tip: Go late at night just before the lagoon closes for a private dip as most guests would have retired by then!

Wining And Dining In Style

The Blue Lagoon has its own Michelin-starred restaurant, Moss, that serves a seasonal tasting menu showcasing the purest Icelandic ingredients. It was an explosion of textures and flavours in every artistically plated course! I savoured the freshest sashimi, perfectly seared Arctic char and melt-in-your-mouth Wagyu, paired with natural wines.

The chic in-suite dining menu also beautifully balances Nordic simplicity with international influences. I loved starting my day with the wholesome yet indulgent Skyr Pancakes, made with that quintessential Icelandic yoghurt-like dairy product.

For informal all-day dining, you can head to the LAVA Restaurant or grab a Blue Lagoon Spritz while gazing out floor-to-ceiling windows at the lagoon. The Spa Cafe has an extensive health-focused menu as well including freshly pressed juices and smoothie bowls.

Final Verdict: A Transformative Wellness Escape

The Retreat at Blue Lagoon perfectly embodies luxury, wellness and cutting-edge design seamlessly merged with breathtaking natural surroundings. With its proximity to the lagoon, uniquely Icelandic treatments at the spa, and both fine-dining and casual options, you have everything you need for the ultimate relaxing escape.

I checked out feeling refreshed, renewed and my skin in the best shape ever! So if you’re looking to retreat, recharge, or even just indulge, I cannot recommend the Blue Lagoon Iceland enough for a transformative wellness getaway! Nestled along the northern tip of Koh Samui, one of Thailand’s most popular islands, the Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui stands out as a premiere luxury beachfront resort. Known for its impeccable service, beautiful surroundings, and abundance of on-site amenities, this Five Star resort attracts discerning travelers looking for a relaxing tropical getaway with all the bells and whistles.

In this review, we’ll provide an in-depth look at what this resort has to offer, from the accommodations and dining to the various activities and recreational facilities available on-site. We’ll also share some of the highlights and unique experiences from a recent stay that demonstrate why the Four Seasons Samui is considered one of the top luxury resorts in not just Koh Samui, but all of Southeast Asia.

Resort Grounds and Accommodations

Spanning over 20 acres of lush coastal frontage, the landscape of the Four Seasons Koh Samui is stunning to behold. Manicured lawns and gardens, lily ponds, coconut groves, and tropical foliage surround the resort buildings and guest rooms, many with unobstructed views of the Gulf of Thailand just steps away.

The resort offers different accommodation types ranging from private pool villas to multi-room residences for families and groups. While styles and sizes vary, each room features Four Seasons’ signature elegant Thai-inspired décor with contemporary amenities. Outdoors, private gardens, pools, and sala lounging pavilions provide plenty of space to relax in a beautiful setting.

Dining and Cuisine

Dining at the resort is a true highlight, with an array of restaurants and bars serving everything from fine French cuisine to fresh Thai street food. The signature restaurant, Pla Pla, is perched right over the water with amazing sunset views and an inventive Thai seafood menu not to be missed. More casual beachfront spots like the Tonsai Bay offer wood-fired pizzas and grilled meats after a day on the sand.

What really stands out is the variety and flexibility around dining. Guests staying in pool villas can take advantage of private in-villa dining or floating breakfast trays in their personal plunge pools. Families will appreciate the kids’ menus and activity options at many restaurants so that mom and dad can also enjoy a peaceful dinner. With 10+ dining choices on-site, even longer stays never have to feel repetitive.

Beach, Pools, and Recreation

While lounging by the beautiful infinity pools or the soft white sand beach is a perfect way to spend lazy days, active travelers or families will appreciate the recreation amenities and activities available on-site. These include:

• A tennis club with pro coaching and daily clinics
• State-of-the-art fitness center and studio classes like yoga, Muay Thai boxing, and aqua aerobics
• Watersports center with sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding and snorkeling
• Kids and teens clubs with daily programs, arts, games, and more
• Thai cooking, crafts, and language classes for those that want to dive into local culture
• Tour desk to help arrange off-site excursions around Koh Samui

With so many options right at your fingertips, boredom is never an issue. Days can be filled with everything from stand up paddleboard adventures to luxurious spa treatments, providing a perfect balance of activity and relaxation.

Unique Experiences and Highlights

What truly defines the Four Seasons Koh Samui experience are those special touches and moments that feel uniquely tailored and memorable. From the warm greeting as you arrive by boat from the mainland to the cool towel offered after a long day under the Thai sun, the signature Four Seasons service shines through.

Some highlights from a recent visit included:

• A private Thai dessert tasting in our villa’s sala overlooking the Gulf’s emerald waters at sunset. Not only was the local fruit and sticky rice prepared and served with grace and skill, but the setting made it even more spectacular.

• A customized Muay Thai boxing lesson with a resort trainer who adjusted the workout and coaching perfectly to our fitness levels. Learning kicks and punches in an open-air gym just steps from the beach was the perfect start to the day.

• Watching the resort staff expertly transform the beach for a wedding ceremony right before our eyes. No detail was overlooked in preparing for the couple’s special moment with lanterns, floral arrangements, and Thai blessings. Even as passing guests, you feel part of something special.

• Joining locals, expats, and resort guests alike for the Sunday brunch spectacle, with endless stations showcasing cuisines from around the world, free-flowing champagne, and even a jazz band. The community atmosphere was infectious.

Moments and experiences like these demonstrate why the Four Seasons brand has earned its reputation for not just luxury but also thoughtful design and service.

Family Friendly Resort

While certainly romantic and rejuvenating for couples, the Four Seasons Samui also makes an ideal tropical destination for bringing the whole family. The resort caters well to multi-generational groups with options like adjoining pool villas, apartments with multiple bedrooms, and even private residences that can accommodate 6+ guests.

The range of dining, recreation, kids activities and baby/child amenities takes the stress out of travel for parents. Knowing the little ones are happily engaged at the kids club gives mom and dad time to relax without compromise. And the family-friendly beach, pools, game rooms and playground ensure everyone can enjoy time together and apart.

Whether for a special occasion like a wedding or milestone birthday bash, or just an easy beach vacation with the whole crew, the Four Seasons Samui has it covered.

Sustainable and Socially Responsible Travel

An additional point worth noting is the Four Seasons Koh Samui’s commitment to sustainable and ecologically conscious development. Unlike crowded resort areas that often exploit local lands, the brand’s Thailand properties aim to protect and preserve the islands’ natural resources and support local communities.

For example, the resort’s on-site water production plant desalinizes seawater through a reverse osmosis process rather than drawing fresh water from the island. The glass for constructing buildings comes from recycled materials. Over 80% of staff is sourced locally, providing jobs and skills training. The list goes on, covering everything from chemical usage to waste management programs.

Travelers who prioritize social responsibility and reducing their environmental impact will appreciate efforts in these areas from a company that strives to set the standard for luxury hospitality.

The Verdict

The Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui stands apart not just as a premier luxury destination in Thailand, but as a resort experience specially crafted to pamper, engage, and revitalize guests of all ages. For those seeking an exclusive island retreat with exceptional service, abundant amenities, and truly memorable moments, this peaceful oceanfront oasis delivers.

Whether lounging on the beach, exploring the local culture, or simply finding joy in the little details, the Four Seasons Samui adds magic to any tropical getaway. I sincerely hope you find this “Four Seasons Resort (Koh Samui) Hotel In Thailand- Activity & Review” article helpful.

Ceylon Tea Trails is the ideal destination for honeymooners in search for relaxing amidst luxury and the beauty of Mother Nature. Five luxurious planter bungalows are scattered amongst the scenic hillsides of Sri Lanka’s Bogawantalawa Tea Estate. The Castlereagh Lake is the highlight of this estate in addition to uninterrupted valley views from the bungalows. The Dunkeld bungalow is the latest addition to the estate and features a stunning infinity pool that seems like its dropping straight into the lake. Biking, hiking and boating are possible activities here to explore the lush greenery surrounding you.

Perched at an altitude of 1250 meters above sea level, these premium luxury bungalows are geographically located in Hatton, Sri Lanka – about 80kms (4 hours) from Colombo. A further 2 hours into the hills will take you to the popular town of Nuwara Eliya where more scenic views await.

Cape Weligama

Cape Weligama is another one of the Resplendent Ceylon hotels – the same chain that Ceylon Tea Trails comes under. The hotel is perched on an elevated headland offering fine ocean views, amazing food, friendly staff, spacious modern villas and plenty of leisure facilities. The villas are designed in a way that offers maximum privacy for guests, with their own gardens and swimming pools. The resort has a beautiful crescent shaped infinity Moon pool curving about 60m, offering 270-degree sea views of the beautiful bay of Weligama.

Weligama is a popular surfing spot in the southern coast of Sri Lanka where you can also enjoy swimming in the sea. The historic fort of Galle is less than an hour’s drive from Weligama, and the popular whale watching spot – Mirissa is just a 15-minute drive. So, Cape Weligama would also be a good spot to explore the attractions in southern Sri Lanka.

Thotalagala

Originally a tea planter’s bungalow from the British era, now turned into a seven-room boutique hotel, is decorated with 19th century furnishings to highlight the heritage of Sri Lanka’s hill country. Spend your days exploring the hills, climbing up to the nearby Lipton’s Seat, or simply lounging around to absorb the stunning views from the bungalow. The common infinity pool offers views of the rolling green plantations and is lined with poolside loungers to sit and relax or enjoy a cup of tea. Accommodating up to 14 guests, each room is decorated with antique furnishings, lush bedding and modern amenities.

Thotalagala Tea Plantation Bungalow is located in Haputale, a town which remains largely unexplored by tourists but is slowly gaining popularity for its breathtaking panoramic views of the hillside. It is about a 6-hour drive from Colombo, but is in close proximity to other popular towns such as Nuwara Eliya and Ella, so it could be an ideal destination to base yourself while exploring the hills of Sri Lanka.
